HDAA 2025 Save the Date Nashville skyline

The 2025 Healthcare Data and Analytics Conference: Analytics in Rhythm was hosted by Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). The event gathered over 400 healthcare data and analytics professionals for presentations, panels, roundtables, and networking from October 27 to 30. It took place in the heart of the Music City, at Embassy Suites, Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

The theme focused on keeping analytics in sync with organizational priorities, helping teams find the right tempo for change, and turning data into insights that move from signal to action—together, in rhythm.

With 44 presentations, 30 posters, and 21 roundtable sessions, the event highlighted the breadth of expertise and shared commitment across HDAA members to carry out the organization’s mission.

Conference Summary and Quick Hits
Across two and a half days, attendees engaged in several events:

  • Conference welcome - Vanderbilt’s Enterprise Analytics team introduced the event with a welcome highlighting Nashville’s music culture and VUMC’s innovation legacy, setting an inspirational tone. HDAA Chair, Ryan Sousa, emphasized the importance of community and alignment in analytics
  • Keynote address - Dr. Neal Patel (VUMC’s Chief Health Information Officer) discussed the evolution from traditional analytics to AI-powered real-time intelligence integrated into clinical workflows, stressing the importance of data centralization and building trust through data quality
  • Breakout presentations on automation, governance, operational throughput, research analytics, data literacy & fluency, and responsible application of AI to help teams strike the right chord between innovation and execution
  • Executive and expert panels on leading through change and using analytics to set direction, maintained momentum, and sustained the cadence
  • Poster sessions and roundtables - peer-led discussions explored AI governance, data literacy, cloud adoption, and evolving analytics practices, showcasing their work and challenges; HDAA Special Interest Groups (SIGs) facilitated roundtable conversations (e.g., women in analytics, population health, data engineering, research, and more), creating space to share best practices, compare notes, and stay in tune across organizations
  • Networking receptions and community-building moments such as the tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame, professional headshot offering, and receptions with live music helped to enhance connections among attendees
  • Conference Closing and Awards - The conference concluded by recognizing outstanding contributions and commitment for the speakers and those who helped to organize the conference. It also emphasized the impact we make on healthcare when we work together
